The three-step new-book wizard, trim sizes, hardcover rules and Quick Start.

Starting a book is a three-step wizard: "Book Type", "Details", then "Confirm". Nothing is charged until you begin Phase 1 inside the project.
Step 1 — Book Type
Choose the type that matches the finished product. Each card shows an estimated credit range for a typical book of that type.
Step 2 — Details
- Title and author (pen) name — you can change both later.
- Genre or niche and target audience — this steers the plan and the writing.
- Trim size and formats (paperback, hardcover, ebook where available).
- A short book description — the more specific, the better the plan.
Trim size and hardcover
Trim size is the finished page size. 6" × 9" is the most versatile for prose; 8.5" × 11" suits coloring books, workbooks and planners; square sizes suit picture books.
Hardcover (case laminate) is available at these trim sizes: 5.5" × 8.5", 6" × 9", 6.14" × 9.21", 6.69" × 9.61", 7" × 10", 8.25" × 11".
Quick Start
Quick Start pre-fills a proven brief for a book type so you can see the flow end to end. In Phase 1 you are asked whether to research the example brief (costs credits) or use your own idea for free — choose "Use my own idea" if you already know what you want to write.
