1. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

  • Account information: Name, email address, and password (hashed) when you create an account. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email, and profile picture from Google.
  • Book content: The manuscripts, outlines, settings, and metadata you create within the platform. This content is yours.
  • Payment information: Credit card and billing details are processed and stored securely by Stripe, our payment processor. We do not store your full card number on our servers.
  • Usage data: Pages visited, features used, credit consumption, generation history, and error logs to improve the service.
  • Device and browser data: IP address, browser type, operating system, and device identifiers collected via cookies and Google Analytics.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and operate the book creation service
  • To process credit purchases and subscription payments
  • To send transactional emails (account verification, password reset, purchase receipts)
  • To send optional marketing emails (you can unsubscribe at any time)
  • To improve AI generation quality and fix bugs
  • To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or Terms of Service violations
  • To comply with legal obligations

3. AI Content Processing

Your book content is processed by third-party AI models (including OpenAI and Anthropic) to generate manuscripts, covers, formatting, and metadata.

  • We do not use your content to train AI models. Your book ideas, manuscripts, and generated content are not used for model training.
  • Content is transmitted to AI providers over encrypted connections for real-time generation only.
  • AI providers may retain inputs temporarily for abuse monitoring per their own policies, but do not use API inputs for training.
  • You retain full ownership of all content you create and generate through KDP Builder.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share data only with:

  • Stripe: Payment processing
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS): File storage for generated covers, interiors, and book packages
  • OpenAI / Anthropic: AI content generation (manuscript, cover, editing)
  • Google Analytics: Anonymized usage analytics
  • Email service provider: Transactional and marketing emails

We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of KDP Builder or its users.

5. Data Retention

  • Account data is retained while your account is active.
  • Book projects and generated files are retained for 12 months after your last login. After that, inactive content may be archived or deleted.
  • Payment records are retained for 7 years for tax and legal compliance.
  • Upon account deletion request, personal data is removed within 30 days. Some anonymized usage data may be retained for analytics.

6. Cookies and Tracking

  • Essential cookies: Authentication session, CSRF protection. Required for the site to function.
  • Analytics cookies: Google Analytics for understanding how the site is used. Anonymized IP addresses.
  • No advertising cookies. We do not run third-party ads or use advertising tracking pixels.

7. Your Rights (GDPR / CCPA)

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate personal data
  • Delete your account and associated data
  • Export your data in a portable format
  • Object to processing of your data for marketing purposes
  • Withdraw consent for optional data processing at any time

8. Children’s Privacy

KDP Builder is not intended for users under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected such data, we will delete it promptly.

We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (TLS/SSL), hashed passwords (bcrypt), secure cloud storage, and access controls. While no system is 100% secure, we take reasonable steps to protect your data from unauthorized access, alteration, or destruction.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated via email or a notice on the site. Your continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
