Choosing the right book type

What each book type produces, which ones support ebooks, and where the credits go.

The book type you pick decides how the platform plans, writes and lays out your book, and which export files you get. Pick the type that matches the finished product, not the topic.

Text-first books

  • Non-Fiction, Business / Leadership, Memoir / Biography — chapter-based prose with a plan, outline and full manuscript.
  • Fiction / Novel — plotted chapters with a story bible so characters and threads stay consistent.
  • Cookbook / Recipe Book — recipe-structured chapters with optional food illustrations.

Illustrated and activity books

  • Children's Book — picture-book pages where each page is an illustration with text placed on it. Illustrations are the main cost driver.
  • Coloring Book — black-and-white line-art plates. Pages are printed single-sided by default so colors don't bleed through.
  • Puzzle Book — word search, crossword, sudoku, mazes and mixed puzzle books with answer keys.
  • Workbook / Activity Book — exercises, prompts and activities laid out for print.

Low-content books

  • Low-Content Book and Planner / Organizer — journals, notebooks, trackers and planners built from page templates with light AI help.

Which types get an ebook file?

Ebook (EPUB) files are produced for text-based books. Coloring, puzzle, workbook, planner and low-content books are print products; the platform builds them print-only and skips the ebook cover by default.

Which phases apply?

Prose books use all six phases. Coloring, puzzle and low-content books skip the "Edit & Quality" phase because there is no manuscript to edit — you fix individual pages from the page grid instead.
