Understanding KDP Royalties
Print royalty
Royalty = rate × list price − printing cost. In the US the rate is 60% when the list price is $9.99 or more and 50% at $9.98 or less. Printing cost depends on page count, ink/paper and trim class — not on bleed or cover finish.
Ebook options
KDP offers a 35% option and, for books listed at $2.99–$9.99 that meet its terms, a 70% option minus a per-MB delivery cost. This tool applies those published rules; it does not predict what a given book will earn.

What's the difference between 35% and 70% royalty?+
The 70% royalty option is available for ebooks priced $2.99–$9.99 in select marketplaces. It offers higher earnings but includes a delivery cost based on file size. The 35% option has no delivery fee and works at any price point.
How much does it cost to print a KDP paperback?+
On Amazon.com a black-ink regular-trim paperback costs $2.30 flat for 24–109 pages and $1.00 + $0.012 per page from 110 pages (so a 150-page book is $2.80 and a 300-page book is $4.60). Large trims, groundwood paper, and color ink use different tables. These are KDP's published US figures as of 2026-09-09; the KDP dashboard is the final authority for your book.
Can I sell on international Amazon marketplaces?+
Yes. KDP print books can be listed on Amazon.com, .co.uk, .de, .fr, .es, .it, .nl, .co.jp, .ca, .com.au, .pl and .se.
