Use this worksheet with your exported coloring-book interior and cover. Record what you checked, fix the problems, then reopen the corrected files before uploading.

1. Match the setup to the exported file

A design preview is only one stage. Open the PDF you plan to upload and compare its page size with your intended trim and bleed choice.

The bleed example adds 0.125 inch to the width and 0.25 inch to the height. Those are interior dimensions, not full-wrap cover dimensions. Check the applicable gutter and outside margins for your actual page count in Amazon’s trim, bleed and margin guidance.

Every interior page has the intended size, orientation and sequence. Important art stays clear of the trim and binding area; any intentional bleed is configured consistently. The cover matches the final page count, paper choice and trim. I checked it against the current KDP cover template.

2. Inspect three representative pages

Choose a simple page, the most detailed page and one with art near an edge. Print at actual size. A home print is a useful early check; it does not reproduce KDP’s paper, binding or trimming.

Look for disconnected contours, unintended gray areas, distorted objects, repeated compositions and spaces too small for the intended reader. Replace weak art before expanding the book.

3. Review the whole book

I opened every exported page, not only the three samples. If advertised as single-sided, each illustration has a blank reverse and the sequence stays correct after front matter. The cover and listing describe the actual theme, complexity, number of illustrations and reader experience. I checked titles, page text and any accidental lettering in the art.

A blank reverse is not marker-proof paper.

It keeps another illustration off the same sheet’s back. Ink can still pass through to later sheets. Test the intended materials on a physical proof; use a protective sheet behind the working page when needed.

4. Review rights and AI use

Keep a record of which parts you created, licensed or generated. KDP requires disclosure of AI-generated text, images and translations, including substantially edited AI output. AI assistance with content you created yourself is treated differently. Check the current KDP Content Guidelines when publishing.

5. Close the loop with a physical proof

Review the final files in KDP Print Previewer and resolve flagged issues. Then inspect a physical proof for the details the screen cannot establish: line reproduction, binding clearance, trim placement and behavior with the intended coloring materials. If you change the interior page count, check the cover again.

Proof observations and remaining corrections I reopened the corrected export and confirmed that the fixes are present. I have resolved the outstanding issues and recorded the final file version.
